Energy Efficient Potter’s Kiln
The Institute has developed An Energy Efficient Potter’s Kiln for pottery industry which has resulted in reduction of production cost , producing quality products, better energy performance, and in eliminating environment problems. Again, the significance of the initiative lies in being perhaps the first technological intervention in this sector. Its impact on the lives of potters and their families is tremendous. The reduced manual labour and increased financial benefits has given new look of confidence on the faces of potters and their families. This kiln is nominated for the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration for the year 2013-14. Government of Gujarat has launched a new scheme to provide Energy Efficient Potter’s Kiln at free of cost to the clay workers. Under the Scheme 100 percent subsidy is provided to the group of two Potter families for construction of Energy Efficient Kiln.
