Implementation of   Special  project  on  Technology  Transfer under SGSY
( 1999 to  2006-07 )

The  whole concept  of the project  is based on sustainable technology for the  benefit of  mankind  more particularly  the BPL  families. The prime  objective of this project  is to transfer  and disseminate  both technologies and  information already available  with RTIG  to grass root level mainly to uplift  the BPL families above  poverty line   during the project period.

 Activities Under Project :

  • Awareness Programme (State, Regional  &  Grass root level),  Demonstration /Exhibition.

  • Skill up gradation /Formation Programme

  • Dissemination of technology

  • Techno RED

Major Work  performed  during Project  period

  • 7 Regional level workshop and  34 Grass root  level demonstration      organised and  12500  BPL  families  took  benefit  of this  programme.

  • For  propagation of  Technology  &  Peripatetic  training  2 Nos. Mobile van  start  their journey and about  200  village  of Valsad  and Kachchh district   are covered . Nearly 23,000  people   benefited. 

  • 7  Common Facility centre  established with  local NGOs to  create awareness and skill upgradation programme for the  identified  key activities. All  the  centres  start functioning and  some of  them have  started   production  centre also.

  • Under  the skill  upgradation formation programme . Total  105  Training  programmes  organized and  2144  BPL  beneficiaries benefited. As  many as 47 groups are  working  in the  activity  in  which  they  were trained.

  • Institute has  promoted   215 BPL  artisans  for  participating in  National and International  Sales Cum Exhibitions  to sale  their products in  National level exhibition and  8  artisans to  International Exhibition.  In all  artisans   could  sale  their  product  worth  Rs. 101.28 lacs  and  got  export  order  of  worth Rs. 73.68 lacs.

  • Institute  has strengthened  its own 5 demonstration centres wherein  it has equipped with appropriate technology, organized  awareness  campaign  for  BPL families.

  • Trained  1511  beneficiaries under   REDP  Programme.  Out  of  total  trainee  400 Beneficiaries  already   started  their   business.

  • Third Party  Evolution  has  been  completed and  report  thereof  is submitted  to  CRD.        


Implementation of  Cluster  Development  Project
 

Govt of Gujarat under commissioner of cottage industries have launched a special scheme for development of artisan cluster through cluster development approaches. Wherein 20 such cluster development work given to NID, NIFT, RTIG & ICE&CD.

RTIG have selected 3 cluster on pilot basis in the first phase. It has completed diagnostic survey of two cluster viz. Shram Jivi Bachat jooth at Gamadi dist :

Anand for the leather toys and Harshiddh Vanskam Sahkari Mandali , Vilage Zundala Dist : Porbandar .

Leather Toys  [Shramjivi Bachhat & Dhiran Jith Gamadi]

  • Diagnostic surrey is completed Project proposal is prepared & submitted to Govt. and it is approved the Government.

  • One advance leather toys making training programmes is completed with 24 beneficiary Required machines , tools & equipments are purchased Raw materials is purchased for training purpose & survey of the requirement of market. Beneficiaries of cluster have started their production.

  •  Participated in IITF and other Fairs & Exhibitions. Sell their product worth Rs. 1.20 lacs. About 40-50 beneficiaries are working in the cluster.

Decorative Bamboo Article  [Shri Harshhiddh Bamboo work & Hasta Authogic sahkari Mandali ,Zundal – Porbandar]

  • Diagnostic surrey is completed Surrey report is prepared & submitted to the Govt. and it is under consideration.

  • First  batch of  25  beneficiaries are   trained.

  • Basic  tools  and   implement   provided  for     production.

  • Product  catalogue & brochure   prepared  for  publicity of product.

  • Construction  of  common facility  center  have been  completed.

Wooden Toys   [ Idar - SabarKantha District]:

  • Diagnostic surrey is completed  by NID.

  • Artisans of  cluster participated  during  Vibrant  Navarati -2005 and  Sales the articles worth Rs. 0.45 lacs.

  • Building   acquirement for  CFC  under progress. 

Soft  toys cluster  [Ahmedabad  District]:
Sakhi Mahila  Samaj Seva Trust , Manipur

  • Diagnostic surrey is completed. 

  • 40  Beneficiaries   Imparted   training   under  Institute's normal  Skill  upgradation training  programme.

  • The  Articles   produced  by the beneficiaries   were put  up for Exhibition and  Sales during  Vibrant  Navarati -2005 and Vibrant  Navarati -2006  where got  good   response of  the people.

  • Product  also  exhibited   in various    exhibition   organized by  Indext-c. 

 


Proposed  Rural  Technology  Park

The  Institute has proposed  Four  technology Park  under   Special project  of  SGSY (Ministry of  Rural  Development , Govt. of India ) and   two  Technology Park under   JAICA ( Japan Association of International Cooperation Agency) Japanese   Assistance.

The Rural Technology Parks will be centres of excellence in rural enterprise which will offer a multitude of enterprise related services under one roof. They will provide a cluster of appropriate and leading technologies, information, business counseling as well as other enterprise-related services to those people living below the poverty line and seeking to establish a new enterprise.  

RTPs will adopt a holistic approach to enterprise development and will assist the rural poor in the setting up of the enterprise by offering a workspace, machinery, residential facility, training and skill upgrading courses, counseling, machinery renting facility, support in developing the business plan, providing marketing & financial support, and handholding after the beneficiaries have set up their enterprise.

The aim of the Project is to develop the entrepreneurial activities to the extent that they are at par with the best in the country, and not simply at the level of cottage industries. The Project will induct entrepreneurs by screening them and selecting only those who have the potential to benefit from the programme. The technology and training inputs made under the Project will serve the entrepreneurs for at least 10-15 years.

The Project will be implemented over a period of three years and its basic long term objective is to promote the economic development of the rural families living below the poverty line and foster social change.

The Proposal has been under  consideration of   Govt. of India . These Technology Parks will be centres of excellence and best practices in all aspects connected to rural enterprise and business development.
